Henry H Brown gets award

A photo album (click here to see all) from the 1940s and 1950s of our grandfather Henry H. Brown, formerly of the 1100 block of Knorr Street in Northeast Philadelphia, containing many official photographs taken during his tenure with the Philadelphia Police Department. They show him at work and with officials at awards ceremonies and formal dinners. They also depict his involvement with PAL, the Police Athletic League, Golden Slipper Camp and the Shomrim (Jewish police officer organization) The photos will be updated with new details as they become available and as time permits

"Shomrim was formed to promote the religious spirit of members of the police, fire, and other law enforcement agencies of the Jewish faith and their families; to promote social well-being, strengthen friendships, and promote the welfare of all our members and their loved ones; to develop general welfare in our community and cooperate with all those who would have us make progress." from https://www.shomrimpadv.org See also the national Shomrim website here

"Whether it’s sports like basketball, soccer, or tennis, or educational offerings such as chess, homework or computer clubs,
or any one of the dozens of field trips offered in a given year, PAL’s programming has a common element which amplifies its impact: caring and committed Philadelphia Police Officers.

PAL Officers are a part of the fabric of the communities they serve. Our ability to create unique impact lies in the relationships forged among police officers, children, families, and their communities." from https://phillypal.org/about-us/
